    New Member, on Wedding Day

Greetings, all, from the largely-unkilted state of Alabama. A new member here, to post a picture from his first formal kilted outing. This is a picture of my new wife and I on our wedding day, about a month ago. We're both Episcopalians, and so my appearance in highland dress was a welcome dose of British traditionalism for many in our congregation.

This is me in my 16 oz. Maple Leaf (Canadian national) tartan, with matching flashes; Prince Charlie jacket and vest; badger formal sporran; and off-white kilt hose. I'm wearing a sgian dubh, too, but it's in my far sock, so you can't see it. I'm Canadian by birth, and something of a nationalist, and so the Maple Leaf is my tartan of choice.

The outfit comes from Alexis Malcolm, who I must say provided outstanding service, and is an exceptionally kind and decent person: she let me pick up my kilt from her in person about two months ago (making me, so far as she could recall, the only person who ever asked to pay her a visit to do so), and she and her husband Charles were extraordinarily friendly and hospitable. It was a real privilege to spend an hour or so talking tartan with them. I therefore recommend Alexis Malcolm unreservedly for your kilting needs!

So that's my intro. You are a great bunch, so far as I have read, and I'm pleased to come aboard.

Welcome from the highlands of Colorado and another Episcopalian. We do have the solution for the kilt addition in our 12 step program:

    Step 1. Buy kilts.
    Step 2. Buy Hose.
    Step 3. Buy flashes.
    Step 4. Buy sporrans.
    Step 5. Buy kilt pins.
    Step 6. Buy fly plaids.
    Step 7. Buy jackets.
    Step 8. Buy sgian dubhs.
    Step 9. Buy shoes.
Step 10. Learn to make kilts.
Step 11. Hang out on X-Marks.
Step 12. Repeat as necessary and have a good time with friends and family.
