    New Year's reception

Today we attended the New Year's reception at our golf club...we just got our membership approved.

The perfect occasion to wear a kilt...although my wife raised an eyebrow...she was slightly worried about my kilted appearance (some important business associates to be met...), but she trusted my judgement...well...no other option really

Argyll jacket, bottle green hoses and tie, dress sporran, antique ram's horn and silver sgian dubh*, black brogues, off white shirt and tartan flashes.

Was a stunning success...only compliments, nice remarks and sensible questions...only one small incident...a gentleman grabbed my kilt and started to lift it..."don't make a fool of yourself...it's true" he backed off instantly.

The "club photographer" made lots of pictures of me and my wife and asked me to pose for him...can't wait to see the next club magazine

My wife will never have any doubts again...she was so damn proud and we both enjoyed the funny looks and all the nice remarks.

*sgian dubh borrowed from my father in law...he's a knife collector.

    Wow, fantastic looking outfit, Robin!

My wife was alot like yours...very nervous about what others might think or say, but after going out in public with me a few times she realized it's not a big deal. Now she prefers to see me in a kilt. :-D

    Thumbs up

You look great! It does make me wonder what's in the mind of men who try to peek? Happened to me once and the look he got from me was enough to start him stammering an apology

    Fantastic look!

I'm sure the compliments were sincere. You deserve to feel proud.

Very smart indeed, Robin, and a nicely balanced and colour-co-ordinated image you present.

A Golf Club event like that, here in the UK, would probably have been a black-tie 'do', in which case I should have been very wary of wearing the green tie and hose (which here, are essentially 'day wear'), and with a Dress sporran. However, if the invitation stated "lounge suit", I'd have been very comfortable in wearing what you did, and so successfully. Well done.
