    Nice to know

In a thread a while back I talked about how I went into the fashion arts class at the high school I work at and talked about kilts ,etc well to my surprise one of the students made her own kilt and brought it to me for examination no only was I impressed but was astounded at how much she appreciated the class I had done. It is times like these that make me feel what we do and say to our youth does have an effect. On a side note her teacher told me she was 3 projects behind and a attendance problem, yet the power of the kilt prevailed and helped her to not only pass but get her a 95 which covered the 3 remaining projects.
Is there anything the kilt can't do?

This just goes to show that we may do many youth a disservice by labeling them "problems". We just need to figure how to reach them and they blossom. I raise a dram to those educators who go the extra mile to connect with youngsters.

    Wonderful news

Sometimes it just takes one project to get through to a student. Most have been a good talk.

That is so cool! I love teaching, and it is even more rewarding when something like this happens.

In a lot of ways teaching is like planting and tending a garden - its fantastic when the flowers bloom. Well done!
