    Now I've done it

While I have orn a kilt for 95% of the time for the last several years, there has been one place I have not. I occasionally work as an adjunct teacher for a community college. I had been asked (by my department chair) not to wear the kilt while teaching (his fears were that the very conservative college president would be upset). For nearly 2 years I complied, though any time I was at the school for meetings, or any other reason, I still wore a kilt.

This month I decided I didn't care anymore. I only teach about 3 months a year, and it really is more for something to do than the income. So I started wearing a kilt at the beginning of February's classes. I have now worked for an entire month kilted, and the powers that be have not jumped on me. Now I just have to wait and see if I ever get called to teach again.

I'll bet that if they don't call you back to teach, your students will have something to say about it.

You see, this is the effect of kilt addiction!
One arrives at the place where one doesn't care anymore what people think or say.
Congratulations on your bold step, I hope the reactions are all positive.

Oh I haven't cared what others think for years. I had only been wearing trousers because a supervisor asked me too. I just got past the point of worrying about this particular job.

I can't remmeber where I found it, but there is a site somewhere on the net about a school conducting an experiment where all the teachers wore kilts to work. I'll post it when I find it again.

Overall, I believe the experiment was a complete success...and I applaud your decision to wear your kilt everywhere!

You got guts, no doubt. I wish, just once, I could wear a kilt to court.

I did...I wore mine to 2 weeks of grand jury duty in Brooklyn. Obviously you work at the court...then again just wear it on April 4 for Glenlivet's Wear Your Kilt to Work Day....

Adam, I will bet (a bottle of single malt?), that you will get no questions or requests to change. If you are doing a good job, then they will take that into account.

Rob... I must post about the recent Vegas conference, meeting the CEO, and walking through the cacti...
