    The Odd Man Out

I see that there's been a recent surge of interest in the "Social Groups" area of the forum. Well, I've looked through all of them but couldn't find a single one that I might become a part of.

So, I've gone and started a new group. It's called "The Odd Man Out" and it's dedicated to all the people who go to the social groups section and don't find one they might be a member of.

Let me elaborate. I live near none of the "regional" social groups. I am not a man of substance. I don't have an interest in a particular tartan, or share the same passion for historical re-creationism, piping, drumming, dancing and so on as some others might (which is interesting in itself because I tend to have many interests). Neither am I ever the gentleman (though I try my best to be, in good conscience I wouldn't have the chutzpah to join that group), and my name doesn't match any of the clan affiliations or septs that might result from having such a name.

Therefore, being the odd man out, I invite any and all those who want to be part of a social group to join up and celebrate our oddity together!

For goodness sakes, WHY? you might ask. Why not? I would answer. For the same reason that '42' is the answer to life, the universe and everything.

A shortcut to the group is here:

    Cheers, and See you there!

Yeah. That's right. It's kinda like the XMTS forum equivalent of "Festivus." A social group for the rest of us.

Hey! That would be a good tag line! hehe

Do you have to go to meetings?
Do you have special code of conduct?
Do you sell chocolate (or other) door to door?
    Is there a special uniform?
    Is there a mascot?

    'cause I don't "do" that

I'm surprised no one has started a social group for curmudgeons...

    Good luck.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

    Ted,

That is because most of the forum is made up of curmudgeons or curmudgeons-in-training .

Besides curmudgeons don't want to associate with a bunch of curmudgeons ('cause those other guys are doing it wrong)

Now get off my lawn Sonny boy before I turn the sprinklers on ya!

    And where's my bourbon?

    Cheers

I am an old codger aspiring to be an old curmudgeon. But I must confess to being a member of one of the earlier social groups "Chicago Kilted." I also recently joined the fat guys group "Gentlemen of Substance." And was invited and just joined "House of Gordon" today.

We use the list in Chicago Kilted a lot to send PMs about Chicago area events.
