    Old picture threads

Just read a post in another thread by Chirs regarding an old travelog that was stumbled upon and how enjoyable it was. Thought I'd remind everyone new around here of this one...

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...-france-51828/

It's one of my favorites about Ern's trip to Scotland and France from 2009. This thread should really have a sticky! It's an XMarks classic.

If you like photo journeys, there is a wealth of fun to be had in the "show us your pics" section.
    Best Regards John

That is a great thread, John. I discovered it shortly after joining the clan..er...forum and spent a few days going through it - 45 pages of Ern's great pictures should not be rushed through! If nothing else, it confirmed the fact that I'd love to visit Scotland (and the rest of the U.K.) some day. A trip to France would be lovely as well!

WOW! That's a lot of thread to read through...I will follow Brian K's lead here and not rush through it. I'll be reading through that one for a couple days. Wonderful pictures so far.

With all the curmudgeon and traditional vs. Non traditional talk as of late that thread helped me to relax and remember why I am on this forum everyday. I also would like to see a section dedicated to threads like this. Or make it a sticky. Thanks for showing this to me Gents!

Oh does anyone know the tartan on the fellow next to the duke?

What you could do is PM Ern and get him to offer some extra "behind-the-scenes" narration of his travelog.

My head is spinning. It's taken me several days to get through Ern's 2009 trip thread, and I'll need to review it again since I was moving so fast in anticipation to get to the next chapter (as it were).

I've been to Scotland (mainly Edinburgh) twice, and after reading Ern's account - I feel as if I never really visited at all...a good reason to go back! ...and I've never been to the Alps.

Excellent idea John, I love these travelogue threads. I even go back and read my own occaisionaly because of the narration in it.

Looks like it is the Sempill tartan, especially as it is being worn by Lord Jamie Sempill.
