    For once ...

For once, my Cilt was never mentioned all night long. No questions, no explainations. We organised for our folk band to do a chrismas carol/folk type gig at our local church hall in aid of The Guide Dogs for the Blind last Sat. It was a great night. The hall was packed to capacity and we managed to raise £1017 for the Guide Dogs. We tried to decorate the hall as best we could with our own christmas lights and trees etc to make it as cosy as possible. Heres a couple of pics we took just after we had opened the doors and the bar. Not great ones I'm afraid.

Nice job of decorating, I think the most colourful things were the tablecloths (love that blue) and your kilt, they go well together.

    Derek,

It appears that you have arrived. With no comments on the Cilt, it says that it is truly accepted. Well done on that distinction.

    Simply love the beautiful decorations.

That hall looks familiar Derek, and your mother is in her favourite chair I see! I agree with Graham: those table-cloths are a gorgeous colour. Congratulations on the fine achievement - well done, indeed.

Now that you are well-and-truly a full-time cilt wearer, I think the time is nigh when we'll have to get you some black boots and a black pullover for these evening gigs. The ladies dress up for the evenings, why shouldn't we? ;);)

Do you play Welsh folk, Derek? I've only heard it once, & being interested in Scottish fiddling & taking lessons for the last 2 years (so I'm still in the "do it my way or I'll play for you" stage ;-) ), I thought the Welsh fiddling sounded very Norwegian to me (& therefore a bit Orkney-ish, as well).

I would really like to hear more of the Welsh folk music.

Me thinks I had better go and buy a black sweater and boots
Hadn't really thought about black Ham. I've got a black sweatshirt somewhere .. I'll dig it out and try it with my brown boots for now .. defn have'nt got any black boots.. yet! Also I have some black socks .. will try them as well but will be guided by your instructions ;) Will post a pic accordingly later.
Sherry .. our music is a little bit of all types of Celtic music. The tunes we play at our Ceilidhs are Scottish/Irish/Welsh/Breton, even English tunes as well. Each has their own musical style and flavour which gives each one the definitive sound of that country. If you browes the net for welsh music you will find loads of information and downloads no doubt. I'm not explaining this very well but hope you get what I'm trying to say.
Gotta go now and try and sort out this 'black' business before Ham is on my trail again
Wish me luck on my new quest

I'm curious. How do you get around while maintaining the exact same pose

Congrats on a seemingly understanding group.
