oops!
When I finished work...that's mostly close to midnight...I have to walk several blocks through the city centre to pick up my car.
Lots of pubs and lots of people....I'm used to people looking at me and I often hear: "ow! a kilt!", "nice kilt!", "isn't it cold underneath?"...the usual...sometimes I return a smile or nod my head to say thanks, but mostly I ignore remarks and keep on going.
Tonight....the same, but I stumbled upon a "mob"...about 15 guys and gals.
They obviously had "some" drinks in a pub. I walked straight through them, wondering how long it would take...
Not very long...
"Hey! a kilt!"
"huh?"
"that guy is wearing a kilt!"
"who?"
"oh! cool!"
"nice kilt!"
so far so good...I just smiled and kept on moving...
"Hey! sir!?"
I turned around and asked "what?"
"is it true?"
I turned away from them and walked on...grabbed some pleats with one hand and lifted the back of my kilt...enough to show my butt for a split second.
"was he...?"
"no!?!?"
"he was"
"sure?"
"very sure!"
"geeh!"

I was at some festival in Nanaimo (Vancouver) this summer and left the beer garden maybe a little more numb than usual. as I was standing in a crowd at the crosswalk, I felt just a touch of breeze that I didn't expect. I glanced back just in time to see a prettyish girl about my age say to her friend "Nope, not even a g-string."

Some young woman made the mistake of asking the question at a recent kilt night and three of the guys turned around and presented backsides

Sneaky, real sneaky. Good way to keep them guessing.

I did a similar thing in Venice last year. I was in my black original UK walking through the Dorsoduro district and there was a young mixed gender group in an outdoor cafe talking and after I passed I heard, "Sir! Sir!"
I turned around and the girls were all trying to get one of their male inebriated friends to sit down. So I made the motion that said, "You're wondering what's underneath?" and they all giggled. I pulled it up enough to show that there was nothing but not all the way just so there was enough of a mystery still remaining.
I don't mind showing what's under my kilt, but I do prefer that it's *I* who do the showing and not someone who decides to take it upon themselves. That I find a bit rude but it may be just me...after all I don't walk up to women and pull up their skirt to see what's underneath.

This past weekend I was at a beer festival. One girl was curious, and ran up and lifted up my front apron - but only got the front panel of the apron, and the under-apron remained in place. She was too embarassed to try again, but I could see when she got back to her friends she was kicking herself about the missed opportunity. =)
As for myself, I was flirting with a girl wearing lederhosen.
Andrew.
