I just ran across this nifty item and would like some advice.

Sporran Suspender

What are your opinions on this type of thing?

I have an all-leather one made by Craigie, and I love it. CavScout of Oco(mumble) Leather Works makes something similar, but without chain, as well. You do want to avoid a chain where possible, because they tear at your apron.

Ah, yes, chains do tear at the apron, glad you mentioned that. Thanks for the url, I'll look for one that is all-leather.

My personal choice for slings is CavScout's. I like the look of them and the sturdy look of the snaps he uses... I'm planning to order a pair soon, myself.

Personally, I prefer the sporran belt, as it makes the sporran easier to slide out of the way if you need to move it.

However, I really reccomend this kind of sling to any man who has a bit of corpulance around the middle. It really helps to keep the sporran in its proper place without it wanting to creep down below your belly and distort the hang of the kilt.

Personally, I like the strap - mine is the L&M "premium" from SWK. No complaints but my next one will probably be from CavScout.

What Matt said - it makes it easier to move your sporran to the side.

but the hangars pictured look line fine items, I just like being able to move the sporran around due to the nature of my work (manual labor mostly)

I know someone here uses a sporran hanger that's a single strap. Well, maybe not "here" but on Matt Newsome's site: http://kilts.albanach.org/Hpim0734.jpg

That ought to be easier to slide around than a double strap sporran hanger, albeit somewhat unusual looking, right?
