    pants down

One of my buddies at work was telling me that he was watching an episode of COPS, and one of the criminals being chased down by the cops was this young man wearing pants so loose that they kept on falling down while he was trying to run away. He said he thought of me because I'm one of the few people he knows that thinks that the whole extremely-loose-fitting-pants fad is really stupid. I wish I could've seen it. It's hard to look cool in those pants if they keep falling to your ankles while trying to run away. Get kilted! Well, obey the law too, but get kilted anyways!

My favorite episode of Cops was a foot chse between a crook and a one-legged cop... The cop ran him down and was teasing him afterwards about being caught by a one-legged cop!!! Too funny!!!

I actually witnessed a similar experience. When I was an undergraduate at Yale I was walking to the Chaplain's Office for my work-study job. As I was walking down High Street I saw a young african-american student walking in front of me. He was at the forefront of fashion because even over 10 years ago he was wearing his pants baggy. Just at that moment the bells on Harkness Tower began to chime the hour. The young man looked down at his watch to verify the time and he must have been late for class or something because he then took off at a sprint. However, his pants were so loose that he had to use his free hand (other hand holding books) to hold the front. And even then the rear of his pants slipped below the level of his butt and you could see the bottom of the guys boxer shorts!

All in all very silly looking then and still silly looking now. If you really must have that much freedom then just wear a kilt!

A friend of mine is a detention officer at the county lockup, he explains to new guests while booking them in that wearing your trousers like that in jail is a signal that you are, um, "available". He says they hike their pants up real quick!

When I was a Field Training Officer, my student officers would also mock the baggy pants style.

I used to enjoy pointing out what a great law-enforcement tool it was. A bad guy really can't run from the police with his pants falling around his ankles.

It is almost as good as the fad of having lights in your sneakers of about 10 years ago. Foot pursuits were great when you had these flashing red lights to follow!

And even if you are wearing your kilt too loose it wont stuck to your knees, it would drop right off and what a freedom of movement that is!

Well... It would be easy for eyewitness to point out where "the guy hanging something more than just the bag of candy he just stole." ran

A few years back, I was on a watershed survey in Sumter and this boy came by with his loose pants halfway down his hips. One of the guys (just before he retired) poked fun at the boy about losing his pants, the boy huffed a little and just as soon as he turned around; they dropped to his ankles. He ran like a track star after pulling them up. And we nearly fell over with laughter.
