The pre-jones jones
Well guys and gals of the rabble, I have just finished deciding on my next kilt. For several months I have had 5 meters of double width Maple Leaf tartan in my possession. I had initially purchased it to make a kilt for myself using Barb's excellent book.
Now, the astute among you are all going to say.... "But Mike, that tartan is asymmetrical and 5 meters is not going to be enough!" And you would be right! So this tartan has sat in my craft room looking forlornly at me and asking "what about me??!!"
So, with the announcement by the Wizard and the gathering of the group in Victoria, I took a flyer and called Steve and asked if he could make a kilt out fo this for me by hemming the fabric. After a long conversation, he talked me into how to handle it. So during my trip to visit the Wizard at the grand handover, I will be handing off my fabric to Steve to make a modern Maple Leaf kilt with side slash pockets.
Then the real jones begins. So, I have taken to calling this period of time prior to placing the order the "pre-Jones, Jones"..... Now, how do I handle this??? D:
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

If it is F&K Maple Leaf you might want to lay the whole piece out flat and square and make sure there is not any kind of skew in the tartan. I am still awaiting the outcome of the Barb T tank with the skewed tartan apron I reported on a couple months ago which was made from F&K 16oz Maple Leaf. Hope yours is straight. If not hope Steve can straighten it for you before he does the buildup. Good luck with that.
