Prepping for my first Tank!
So, it's been quite some time since I've been active here at X Marks. Since I had to sell my USAK due to weight loss, there hasn't been much of a desire to participate.
Well...I've decided to start saving up for a more traditional kilt, and I've decided that I'm going to purchase an 16 oz Irish National hand-sewn, knife-pleated kilt from the Tartans Museum. I'm on my way to saving up and have been in touch with Matt to get questions answered, so it's now just a matter of time. I'm hoping to have the kilt by the beginning of September for a trip up to Canada.
I'm getting really excited about having a real heavy weight wool kilt...finally.
I just recently ordered a matching Irish National self-tie bow tie (with a uniform stipend I have at work ), and have started to look at tweed argyll jackets.
For those in the know about the Irish National, would you suggest a charcoal grey tweed or the lovat green?
So, I expect to me hanging around here a little more often, brushing up on my kilt knowledge, and getting to know the many new members that joined while I was away.

Congrats! You won't regret it
Charcoal seems best...I'm not sure, but I think lovat green and the grass-green of the kilt will clash a bit.

I would second the Charcol grey as it will not only work better with the Irish National, but I think it will work better for any future kilts.
Welcome back to the fray, and congratulations on the weight loss.

I think grey, but something along a gold line would, I think, look great as well.

I wear a green tweed coat with mine, with green hose. YMMV.

I've an Argyll in the charcoal grey tweed, and I prefer it to the black or the green - it goes with more of my tartans and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Thanks for the opinions!
Does anyone have suggestions for an inexpensive source for tweed argylle's?
