Or, if the state you live in has a state tartan, show her that and explain that the concept of US state (and Candian provincial) tartans is to provide a tartan that every person in that state can wear, and not just those of Scottish heritage.

    Cheers,

I wonder how the jerkette would react if it was mentioned that she could be put on a sex offenders list by her actions. Sure would be plenty of witness'.

The nervousness is on my daughter's part that the future MIL will show up in Ren Faire garb and not realize LIKE EVERYONE ELSE does that it is a formal affair. Her family is a mix and my daughter's fiance found a scot connection through research and got interested in wearing a kilt through the ren faire. My BIL and I have been educating the lad and he's really interested in getting his family tartan (uncommon and hard to find), but his mother is still wrapped around the axel of ren faire theme and not the fact that we're doing this formal and as an ethnic bent. The kids get it, we get it his father gets it, she's just out there.

Suggest she write to Sir Sean Connery and tell HIM it's a renn faire costume.

Okay Bubba, you almost made me spit water all over the monitor.

We took her to the local Celtic festival in June and its sponsored by and on the sites of the Ren Faire. Yep, she showed up in ren faire garb and wondered why none of the women were in garb and those of us that wore kilts wore them with polo shirts and casual shoes. Even though my daughter, her son, myself and one of the vendors explained to her SEVERAL times its an ETHNIC festival, not Ren Faire.

Maybe someday, she'll get a clue.

Alan, sounds like you handled a messy situation well.

Too bad someone didn't take a picture of her taking a picture of you to show her when she sobered up.

I would have taken the camera and maybe dropped it her beer, no, that would be a waste of beer.

    That is unbelievably ignorant behaviour!
