The Rise and Fall of My Personal Fad

Well, it's been at least 6 months since I thought about buying another kilt, and my current kilt outfit is fairly limited, so I don't wear my kilt much anymore.

Wore it a few weeks ago for the Madrigal Dinner here at my school (Ren themed Christmas bash, basicaly), and I got some sweet Ren boots to wear with it earlier this year, but frankly, I'm out of money, and with my wedding coming up in about 5 months (wh00t), my thoughts are elsewhere.

I suppose I'm sort of babbling. My wife-to-be is supportive of kilts (her entire mother's side are Douglas's, and practically ALL of them play bagpipes), but I think I've given up that dream of having a 100% unbifurcated wardrobe. Maybe it can be my midlife crisis in 25 years (right after the Big Dog chopper).

Anywho. Many thanks to everybody on this board for educating me on the wonders of the kilt. I'll never stop owning at least one, and I'll always defend it to people who call it a skirt or dress. I'll keep posting from time to time, just to stay involved, so don't anybody delete my profile...

    Slainte, or however it's spelled.

Don't give up now. Wear what you have until the time comes that you can increase your collection/wardrobe. Edinburgh wasn't built in a day.
Still, out, standing in my field.

Well as long as you will still come around, and your wife to be is supportive then all is well.

    Greetings Toad et al...

Likewise, it's been quite a while since I've purchased - or thought about purchasing - kilt stuff. I now average about once or twice a month for wearing a kilt... a shame really as it is such a marvelous thing to wear.

I shall, without doubt, be wearing my kilts over the upcoming holidays a bit more frequently.

    cheers

Besides, kilts don't wear out like pants do. And you can make so many different changes by using different shirts and colors that match. If you can even get a few pair of inexpensive type kilt hose, even if not real kilt hose, you have much more mileage in color choices. Good luck.

There's nothing wrong with that, Toad. I own two kilts and everything I need for formal, dressy and casual attire. Like most people, I don't need to wear a kilt every day and a different one every day for a month. I have no plans to buy more stuff.

Live like you want to live.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Alway keep in mind, it's just a piece of clothing, it's not a religion.

    Hey, Blu, long time...
