Don't know if other's are kilting up for the day, but I am. Royal Air Force tartan kilt, Orvis replica RAF Mechanic's vest over white turtle neck sweater.

In honor of my father's service as a Flying Sergeant in the RAF in 1942. He flew Hurricanes for the 59 OTU.

For new folks, thats the Royal Air Force tartan. Kilt is hand sewn by Kathy Lare.

So I'm at work, we're in clinical staffing, and this new and young 20 something demure counseling intern, from a faith who's women are usually most demure, says to me, "So, are you wearing your kilt in the traditional manner?" Cracked everyone up coming from her. I used my standard reply, "I'd be fired and arrested if I asked you that.'

Turns out her husband, a local pharmacist, owns a kilt in his clan tartan but only wears it on speccial occasions. So hey, at least TWO kilties living in Page, AZ now. Gonna have to pursue this.

It's the RCAF's 85th Birthday today. I wore my RCAF tartan to work today to celebrate.

I was a cadet in the Air Training Corps, as was my father before me. Does that count? We wore RAF uniform, although it's just a youth organisation that meets one night a week.

For sure. Think Arthur Mackie, or an RAF tartan rep, is on this board. Here's what Arthur emailed me about who can wear the RAF Tartan.

"Having served in World War11 with the "boys & girls" in blue, I decided to design this tartan, as a tribute to all those who served & are still serving in this particular arm of the British Forces. There is no restriction on who can wear it, as sons & daughters of those who have served in the R.A.F. are entitled to wear it, as are any persons who respect the efforts of the Royal Air Force. I hold the copyright, and the cloth can only be supplied by me or my franchised company."
