(Driving distance= 50 miles)
I assure you that Jock will be purchasing only the finest scotch for my enjoyment, and I will trust in his decision, as I am certain that even a "thrifty" Scot would not pinch at that. And for anyone else meeting up in Greenville, I assure you a wee dram of the finest single malt my poor purse will be able to afford that day.
Personally, I like a good, peaty whisky, but if you, Jock, should decide on some of that milder, rooky lowland stuff, it, too, will suffice. Laphroiag is always acceptable, but then Highland Park is nice and a better buy. | Jock, David, Jim - thanks for making me laugh out loud in my office today! This is why I love XMTS.

This is starting to look like a real rally. I can't be sure, but it sounded a bit like McClef is going to be here. Did I read that right?
So far, it's me, MoR, piperdbh, davidlpope (?), Tartan Hiker, and Zardoz if he's up to the drive. (Zardoz, I'll buy you a drink, too, if you drive that far. Might even pop for some haggis or something.) And there are a bunch of other guys who've been somewhat AWOL lately who live over that way: nixphotography and others come to mind.
I think this'll be a lot of fun, especially when I get that picture of Edward and me in the bonnie knees contest!

Bad thing about unemployment, I have the time to do it, but likely won't have the money! If I do make it, the offer of a dram and some haggis (and maybe a place to sleep!) would be very welcome!
If I had any money to spare though, I'd wager against Prince Edward wearing a kilt there.
BTW, I got a lottery ticket today !

Cordially,
David | I must heartedly protest. As a proud son of the Volunteer State (Tennessee), I see bourbon as a rough and raw second place to the smooth flavors of our charcoal-filtered whisky. Unfortunately, there are only two still mass produced.
And as for HRH dress for the gathering. I would love to see him in a 3-piece seersucker suit with bow tie. Truly Southern.

I can see that the only way to solve this quandary of drink is to ensure that all three are represented.
As the only hierarchical title I possess is "squire" , I suggest a "single barrel" bottle of Jack Daniel's whiskey be on hand, along with a good bourbon (I enjoy Basil Hayden's and Blanton's, among others), and let Jock pick the scotch!
Once you've had enough, I'm sure you'll all be ready to try and compare knees with the RH ...

-Sean | I never leave home without at least a flask of Jack's Single Barrel.
