    Sadly I did'nt ..

As a follow on to my thread about 'to cilt or not to cilt' ... sadly in the end I decided that I would wear my trou$$$$ to last night awards ceremony with my wife. I nearly did wear my cilt however, after reading a few of the posts like Glens et al. It was all, shall I, shan't I, but the shoes/boots finally swayed me to take the decision I did. The wife looked a million dollars and I did'nt want to let her down even though she was convinced I was wearing my Cilt. However, as soon as we got there a chap in his Cilt arrived too. He left a bit to be desired about his 'rig' and if there had been another half hour to spare I would have rushed home and got changed. There were over 150 people there and no one was over the age of 25yrs (except the mrs and me). I was asked many times by several nice young ladies who I had met when cilted before why I was not wearing my Cilt.
Since my wife had organised the awards ceremony for all the media students, they got her up and presented her with a huge bunch of flowers whilst everyone got up and clapped and started chanting her name. I was quite taken back and very proud of her .. most of em call her mum, and she calls them her children. They insisted we went back to the students union to do a bit of 'clubbing' there. We did and it was a great night. Anyhow I'm gonna buy some tidy black brogues and a decent Cilt jacket asap for any future do's like this. A big thankyou to you all for all your posts in my other thread. Cilted today and for the rest of the bank holiday though

    Derek,

Glad that you let your wife shine. It sounds like you two have a great relationship.

Derek, I think it would be a good investment. That way you don't have to feel underdressed when your wife is dressed up. I need to start thinking about purchasing a jacket as well. I've decided that the jacket will be an Argyll rather than a Prince Charlie since the Argyll can be worn with a tie and a kilt belt, and is usually acceptable for both formal and semi-formal events.

If you're on a tight budget, don't forget about finding a nice tweed jacket at a jumble sale, and altering it. I've seen three jackets done like this now, besides my own, and have been impressed each time.
