    Seeking Caubeen help

Does anyone know how to make the rosette for a caubeen? I found some perfect material and I'm making several. (I'll post the pics when finished) But I'd like a step by step how-to for the black rosette. Thanks Rabble, Ron

See Robert's extravagant cockade in this thread.

Another description of an 18th century cockade here. She makes very helpful suggestion to use a corkboard with a hole in it.

I'm guessing you want to make a round, black rosette; should be pretty straightforward if you take your time.

Here I tried to replicate the one usually seen on a balmoral bonnet. I didn't have any very wide ribbon, so I used 2 pieces of 1-1/2 inch ribbon. Basically there are two layers of ribbon, and the top layer is tacked down in the center. A cap badge covers a multitude of sins!
