    Sgian dubh on the inside

I have just been told on another forum that wearing the sgian on the inside of the leg is some kind of challenge to a fight.

    Is this true?

Actually no, the knife worn in the hose was a sign of peaceful intentions.. No hidden weapons.. I am not so sure about wearing it on the inside of the leg, But I am sure our experts can give a more proper explaination. Which is why I enjoy this site... The expertise is abounding and the history behind the story is great learning.

I've never heard this before, and I've never seen anyone wearing their sgian dubh on the inside of the leg. I think this is more myth than anything else.

    Fascinating how myths develop though...

Yeah, this is new to me as well. I would not thing that the Sgian on the inside of the leg would be very useful, however (I can see tripping myself as I reached for it.)

Oh it would be a challenge for your other leg if you wear a stag handle like I do.

Never heard of that one before.

Perhaps Matt Newsome or cajunscot would weigh in if they have found a mention of this?

Always remember when you read or hear anything to always consider the source.
