    Shipping time from england

Here's my question. I ordered some material from Martin Mills (england to US) and they shipped the package postal. I was thinking about 14 business days should've arrived is that about how long it takes? If I don't see it soon I might need to call and make sure all address info is correct? Is there a way to claim a package lost in mail?

once it gets to USA, it can take forever. Because of the value it might be scrutinized by customs before even getting into the system. Sorry and I hope not and it has never happened to me; I am just repeating what I have been told.

Might I suggest that if you have gone 3 weeks total time, it would be good to find out from the shipper/ mill.

I send small packages to the States regularly and the actual travel time is about a week using Air Mail at the Post Office.

If customs are involved though then it is a bit of a lottery as to how much extra time it takes.

First, are you sure they had it in stock and were going to ship it immediately? Second, Royal Mail from GB to US can take as much as 4 weeks to get here, or can be here within a week, it all depends. Everything has to go through customs once it enters the US. Small and inexpensive stucff tends to get through faster, while larger and more expensive items tend to take a bit longer to be assessed. Sometimes, however, the customs fairies may sit on a package with no real logic from the consumer side and it takes longer than expected. Ther other bad thing about Royal Mails is that you can track a package until it gets to US Customs, then it is off the radar until it shows up on your doorstep some days later, as the USPS does not track Royal Mail packages.

    Remember, patience is a virtue.

I think six days by air and six weeks by sea is about right.

I have always received items from the UK between 10 & 14 days. Even kilts.
