Should I wear a kilt?

Good evening everyone. I just subscribed to this forum because I need helpful informations.
One of my best italian friends will marry a scot girl this summer. He invited me and wants me to wear the kilt like all the parents and her friends will do.
I am half italian, half swiss. I do not know the scottish family, but I really want to show my respect to all people by conforming to the norms of society and etiquette and please my friend's request.

First Question:
Should I wear the kilt and all its accessories or is it inappropriate?

It would be no problem to wear. However, where will the wedding be. Would it be possible to hire instead of buy?

No reason you shouldn't wear a kilt. Hiring one would be the least expensive option but there are a couple of tartans you might look at

If you're "in" the wedding - like best man, then I'd say yes.
If you're showing as a general invitee, the world of tartans is your oyster.

The answer you want is YES!!

You are welcome to wear any tartan, most of us wear tartans with a family connection, or a location ( City , county, country ), and some like me wear some because they really like the pattern and colourway.

It's not a bad thing though to find out a little about the tartan, because you are guaranteed to be stopped and asked about it!and most kilted folks will say it shows respect to the tartan.
I like to see a mix of different tartans at special events, but perhaps you could ask some of the family if they have a preference.
