Something New - Kilted Litter Patrol

Hmmm, make that "litter" patrol...I hate typos in the title...oh well.....

Never seen this before. This afternoon I was up on the Kaibab Plateau south of Jacob Lake, Arizona on Hwy 67 - the road to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Altitude is about 8,000 feet where we were. Was helping a friend police the mile she's committed to cleaning up in honor of her late first husband, a police detective killed in the line of duty some years ago.

Beautiful day for it, but already turning off cold up there in the high country so wore my RKilts green leather cargo.

She walked a half mile out and back one way - I walked a half mile out back the other way.

And no, this wasn't a chain gang or community service for the courts - just volunteer good guy trash clean up along a very scenic highway. Mostly found small parts of cars and tires that had broken off - very little litter from humans. Its like folks seem to honor the beauty of this beautiful forest and meadowlands.

Well, with one exception. I won the prize for the most unique find of the day...

A porta potty seat. I like to think it accidently blew off someone's roof rack or out of the back of a pick up. Not like someone intentionally littered with it. Imagine they were surprised when they got to their campsite and discovered it missing.

A beautiful drive up and back, a lovely kilted roadside stroll on a wonderful day, with good company.

    I do so love kilting.

There it is - one extra 'T' fitted as required.

    Great job there.

How many whistles did you get from passers-by?

That's some awfully pretty country you're in, Ron. Congrats on the "trophy" you found.

I love the waistcoat. A little non-traditional, but it works!

Nary a comment from passing traffic - which was usually thick and fast 'cause its a long way from there to anywhere else. Did get a wave from passing Forest Service Ranger - we were in the Kaibab National Forest.
