Don't wanna steal the Stillwater taking too long thread...

Came home, measured for the leatherneck tartan...but dang...I'm sorry, I just can't see spending money on an acrylic kilt...that I probably won't wear and will have to pay someone to alter. So gonna hold off.

Did find a couple pics that showed pleats but not sure which model.

Now, did covet the wool saffron kilt...but can't find a place on the website that gives the weight of the wool fabric. Any help appreciated.

Just got my wool Saffron and Sightstalker standard in the mail today. The wool I'd say is at least a 13oz wool. It compares in general heft to my handmade Alexis Malcolm US Navy. I was surprised at the quality of the fabric of the Nightstalker standard. At this point I would definitly by a USMC in the Stillwater standard or wool. I'll let you know more after I have taken each out for a few drinks!

Acrylic kilts aren't for everyone. I've got a Black Watch one from Union Kilts and a Navy Blue one which was very cheap on e-bay. They do look the part much better than the very light polycotton kilts, but IMHO they never look or feel anything like as good to wear as a real wool kilt and I only wear them for casual occasions.

In my experience, impulse buying gerenally results in me having to store something I didn't need and a lighter lighter pocket book in the process.

It can be tough to resist the urge to splurge.

The SWK Leatherneck's are going to come in the Heavyweight and a special Heavyweight Box pleat early next year. If you have to have the thing hemmed I think waiting for a wool one opr going with the very nice saffron would be a reasonable thing.

I vaguely recall someone mentioning that the SWK Heavyweights were about 13 oz. Perhaps Jerry could confirm this.

The F-H.C.A.G. and I ordered my Christmas present (a Green Heavyweight*) Saturday morning from Stillwater and it just arrived about 5 minutes ago. I'll be allowed to try it on and then it gets whisked away until Christmas. I guess it's the only kind of jonesing one gets with Stillwater.

Ron, I know that you would like for Jerry to offer other options for length, but truthfully, with the price he charges, hemming still makes a SWK's a bargain. And for a jarhead like you, I think that the leatherneck tartan would be a great first SWK.

If SWK ever gets around to doing an Army Tartan in heavy weight I sure would be first in line

That's a shame Ron but maybe it's best to hold off and get something you really want especially if it's a tartan that is important to you.
