Speaking kilted to 1st grade class on St. Pats day

Boy, it's been a long time since I've posted at XMarks. I'm a full-time kiltie, and have been so since August of 2005. Anyhow, our next door neighbor's have a 6 year old. They recently had a day at his school where the children's grandparents were invited. His grandparents could not make it due to work so see ask me to come in their place.

His teacher, seeing that I was wearing a kilt, invited me to come and speak to the class about kilts on St. Pat's day this coming March. I plan on wearing my 16 oz wool Ireland's National for that speaking event. Anyhow, a chance to educate some young folks about the kilt. I'll be talking to them about the origin of the kilt in Scotland, my own ties to Scotland and Ireland, and the fact that many men today still choose to wear a kilt as their daily attire.

Hay! that's great. From time to time I work over at a highschool ceramics class and the highschoolers seem to be cool with my kilts. I usually wear a Buzz Kidder kakhi. It's good that kids are going to get to see a presentation on the kilt with some explaination.

I was asked to do that last year, but I focused on the music of Ireland. Bodhran, whistle, mandolin, guitar, dulcimer, bones, pipes, etc. They loved it!

Luckily you have a lot of time to prepare a first-rate presentation.

What a huge opportunity. The little ones tend to soak up your every utterance and gesture - more than you may realize (here's an example: http://www.crocuta.com/skydiving/Kid...993/index.html ) They will ask questions you would never have imagined. Have a great time - it should be very rewarding.
