Sporran Use
How many of you actually use your sporran for carrying items, in comparison to just wearing it, as I do, for being part of the regalia ?

My kilts don't have pockets so I carry the essentials: Keys and Wallet.

To me, wearing a sporran without putting anything in it is kind of pointless. It becomes a fashion decoration and nothing more. I don't do fashion decorations. The sporran was originally a functional item; why make it a mere decoration?
I stuff my sporran full. I carry my wallet, keys, cell phone, sunglasses (when not needed), cigarettes, and lighter in there.

Ditto.
I carry my wallet, keys and c-phone in my sporran. The issue I have is with loose change that can gather in the bottom of the sporran. I now use a wee change purse for the change.

I don't stuff it, but do carry the essentials...keys, wallet, cell phone, and cigar, cutter and lighter. The heavier it is, the lower it hangs, so I try to keep it light!

No one mentioned carrying a flask in there. hmmm surprising. That is what we find a lot of people use the Sporran for especially at formal events such as Weddings.

The people I wear my kilt around are very ignorant when it comes to the kilt, therefore they think I am a transvestite, and the location of the sporran is vulgar.......ROFL
THat being said, I therefore MUST use it for holding items, so that they dont think I am either of the above.....

I never wear mine "just for the sake of wearing it". If I'm leaving the house, my wallet and keys ride in there...cell phone typically goes in a pocket, or on a clip on the belt or waist of the kilt...depending on what I'm wearing with the kilt, etc. I wish my casual sporran was bigger...I have one of the fairly standard black leather ones with the stiff front and back...doesn't hold much and it's kinda hard to get things in and out of it. I have a brown deerskin one in the works...in my long list of craft projects.

My sporran carries pretty much everything--always my wallet. I sometimes shift my cell phone to my jacket or vest pocket as it is easier to access there. When I dance, I will usually put my keys or other objects in my jacket or in a ladies (usually my wife's) purse. Because it's too painful to have a heavy sporran flop around you know where.
My sporrans are generally pretty roomy and light. They were made to be used by my grandpa. So unlike some "store-bought" sporrans, they're more useful.

Really, neither, nither, nor.
But I did always put what would be in my pockets, including a couple of hankerchiefs, in my sporran. My keeys happen to be attached to a pocket knife, so those were always in there.
