Stillwater Heavyweight Weathered Lamont with Pictures

A funny thing happened as I was saving for my MacNaughton USA Semi-Traditional kilt...

...Jerry at Stillwater got a couple of 36" Weathered Lamonts in stock! I am a big fan of this tartan ever since I met Iolaus at the Campbell Highland Games wearing one in 2006. Ever since then everytime Jerry has had them in stock my kilt fund is empty, and when my kilt fund was full he was out of stock. The stars aligned and I finally got to order one (it turned out to be his last in my size). I ordered before 8:00 AM Friday November 9th and received it Tuesday November 13th at 3:00 PM (and remember there was Veterans Day in there). Jerry had included a free kilt hanger which was a rather thoughtful touch.

I already have a solid Green and Black heavyweight kilts from Stillwater and have been very pleased with their solid construction, many pleats, excellent swing, and their handsome "shadow tartan" pattern. This is my first tartan heavyweight from Stillwater and I like it just as much. The only difference between this one and the others is that the leather of the straps is thinner than the thick straps of the two solids.

I have heard from Jerry that he is very unlikely to be bringing in anymore kilts in this tartan. So if you are interested in it you had best check what he has left in stock. They are $110 and include matching flashes.

It looks like he has 30", 46", 48", and 52" waist sizes left. Remember that these all have a standard length of 24"

I thought that my Empire Canvas Works canvas Heritage shirt and Kiltgoodies antler tip kilt pin would go well with the lovely earth tones of the tartan. My black and brown Freelander Sporran was a perfect match with the brown and black of the tartan. I dug out my homemade antler sgian dubh to match everything.

The lighter threads have a bit of a blue cast to them which make them work very well with lovat blue hose.

Wee little Xena felt that my photos lacked a certain je n'ai sais quoi and offered (demanded) to help out. I'm sure you will agree that the picture is far superior with her presence.

I'm very pleased with this purchase and best of all when my lovely wife, The Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess came home last night from work and saw me in my new finery she said:

"I am very glad you bought yourself that kilt. I love it."

With the F-H.C.A.G.'s approval, it has to be good!

For the record, this isn't a handsewn kilt with the cutouts in the pleats for a slimmer waistline. But it is still a heck of a kilt.

By the by, yes that is a black sporran belt. It ties in the two tone Freelander with the rest of the brown leathers and the black kilt straps.

I've always liked the earthy tones of that tartan, you do it justice. I must also agree withb the exceptional quality for the price that Stillwater offers. I am a little disconcerted by the lack of facial hair though. What gives?

I bought the Lamont Weathered along with a heavyweight Black Watch from SWK and am very satisfied. I think he sends kilt hangers with every heavyweight because I got two (as well as matching flashes of course).

Very nice Jamie I too was looking at the 36" Lamont, however some intrepid shopper beat me to it, I wonder who that could have been

? Congratulations on the new kilt, different look without the beard, if I may ask why did you shave it?

Once in a great while I shave off my neatly trimmed beard for a month or two for the amusement and enjoyment of my beloved Flame Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess. Shy little Xena has already informed me I need to grow it back to "be more handsome".

That is SHARP. And I've been meaning to say this for a while, but I am a huge fan of Roxanne. Always remember to "Earn more sessions by sleeving."

I really like that tartan. I usually go for darker stuff, but lately I've seen some things in lighter colors, and I must say I'm coming around. You're on your own with the beard shaving, though. I haven't been without mine in more than ten years and I don't want to know what's under it!
