    Stirling Castle, kilted next Saturday

Just got tickets for YDance, Scottish Youth Theatre and the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland's collaboration for the first time giving their performance of 'Tam O'Shanter', this Saturday in the Great Hall of Stirling Castle.
Tam O'Shanter is my favourite Burns poem and I am looking forward to this production, its part of the Year of Homecoming. The premiere will take place this Friday at Stirling Castle and on Saturday before further performances at Eden Court in Inverness and Haddo house, Aberdeenshire (including a Hallowe'en presentation)
So here is another opportunity to get kilted and enjoy oneself

Sorry I don't have any photos of the event or of the castle and its surroundings at night, I really was annoyed that I did not bring my camera.
The show was very good, being just one hour long, the 3 groups that took part were YDance, Scottish Youth Theatre and the Scottish Youth Pipe Band. All aged between 16-25.
The pipe band are a non-competing band who select excellent pipers and drummers from all over Scotland.
The combination of these three groups made an excellent Tam O'Shanter, with a modern twist on the tale. Tam's wife drove a car to the pub(she did'nt drink) but could'nt get Tam out of the pub, away from his cronies.
Eventually Tam leaves the pub but meets up with a crowd of witches and to cut a long story short, is saved by his wife who rescues him and drives him away in the car.
The show was held in the Great Hall of the castle and drinks were served in the Chapel Royale built for the baptism of James V1's son Henry who later died leaving Charles to become King Charles 1.
A great atmospheric venue for a ghost story.
After the show I really should have had my camera as it was a very clear night last Saturday and standing on the esplanade of the castle, you could see Stirlingshire, the Lothians and the Kingdom of Fife in the background with the Wallace Monument in the foreground, standing out like an illuminated lone sentinel on guard.
Great kilted night with a few others in the audience kilted
