    I've also got a nice comparison picture on the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop page that shows two kilts, side by side, both in the same tartan, both pleated to the same stripe, one a 4-yd box pleat, and one an 8-yd knife pleat.

    It's the Moffat tartan, by the way. That's my butt on the left, and the larger rear end on the right is my partner-in-crime at the museum, Ronan.

    Nice bu.., err tartan!

    And more and more I like the look of box pleats better than knife pleats. They present the tartan better, IMHO, and just look cleaner.

    I don't know why but I like the knife pleats better
