Surprised the Wife with Disney!

My wife graduates college in December and will enter the noble profession of teaching middle school. Since as long as I've known her she has been pining to goto Disney World during Christmas. Last year I got to scrimping and saving, and have surprised her with the trip last week.

She is a planner. Down to the time of when to get Fast Passes, and reservations for dinner. We will be there the week before Christmas. We've bought tickets to Circus De Ole` La Nouba in Downtown Disney. On pleasure island within Downtown Disney is an Irish Pub where we'll be eating dinner after the show.

When she told me about the Pub, she said, "you will be wearing your kilt afterall, right?" as if she had to ask. Of course I will be. What a great wife! Her vacation and she's making sure I'm happy in no pants.

I'll also be wearing it to Epcot one day. Afterall eating the mouth watering steak and side of cheese soup from Canada's Le Celle` restaurant wouldn't be as good in trousers. Also possibly wearing a kilt to animal kingdom, although riding expedition everest kilted would be interesting.


Anyone have any suggestions on rides or attractions at Disney to avoid riding while kilted?

Disney World and Disneyland differ a bit, but I have not run into anything at D'land that cannot be done kilted.

I was there last year and there was a group of pipers outside the Canada pavilion in Epcot so you may have some kilted company. The only place you might need underwear is if you go round that Swiss Family Robinson tree house in the Magic Kingdom, it's up and down walkways. Those little boats they have in rides like Splash Mountain are a bit awkward getting in and out too and you get wet as well so don't wear your best kilt. My wife's favourite ride was Soaring in Epcot probably because it's pretty tame but OK with a kilt.

I've three small things about this post:

1: My wife (another mad keen Disneyworld fan) says that "that man rocks! He's an awesome husband!" (she ranks me in the same category after we spent our honeymoon at Disneyworld last year)

2: My wife asks "is his wife a member of the 'DisBoard' (www.disboards.com), and if not, she needs to join if she's into planning her Disney trip"

3: I'd avoid the "tower of terror" at MGM if I was kilted at Disney... the idea of a camera taking a pic of me while I dropped at speeds faster than the speed of gravity is not a good idea.

No worries. I've done that ride kilted, and the pic snaps too soon for anything to fly up. You may want to wear a heavy sporran or keep your hands in your lap though. Generally though, it's too dark to matter on the descents.

Dude, that's an awesome gift! I have no advice on where you should and shouldn't go kilted as I've never been... but I just wanted to chime in and let you know what a great gift I thought it was... So there, you now have my opinion. Enjoy!

I had the shepherd's pie. It was quite good. I don't think there is much on the menu that is bad though. The flats of beer are also a nice option if you'll be driving anywhere since you get four or five small beers instead of one large one.
