    Lightbulb SWK thirfty quick fix

The velcro on my thrifty is dead. The almost bald panel is almost about to fall off the fabric to boot. (Sure, I guess I should have got the bigger size for less stress on the velcro, but anyways....)

Right now, my temp fix is to use a binder clip (from the same package that the ones with fishing weights that I use to fix pleats came from, sans the added lead) to clip it shut.

anyone have any better ideas (I know I could replace the velcro) than the binder clip? Granted, it isn't a kilt that I go out in, bu I am thinking the binder clip is actually working quite well, perhaps someone with more skill should design a pub kilt with two clips for the purpose of selecting the size, might be better than the velcro. Or not.

maybe stitch on a hook and eye, like some suit trousers have. You'd sacrifice the ability to adjust it though, if your waistline fluctuates a little (as mine does).

    Sathor,
Get a thread ripper and remove it completely. Then sew a new one on, it's really not that hard.

That's something I have debated doing since I got it. (And I really do enjoy using the thread ripper...)

I might just buy some more Velcro next time I am out and about.

Yes, the ancient Celts were true geniouses when they invented Velcro to fasten their clothing.

I wonder if the opposite is a better truth, think how mad they would think that we would make stuff like thistles to hold our clothes on, removing burrs from cloths or pet fur is something I do not wish to revisit, but it is the principle behind Velcro. They would think us mad.

    Update:

a single clip is not enough to keep kilt on right. Might try two clips, or might just go ahead and get my shower and get dressed for the day.
