The tartan weaver - anyone use her?
I'm thinking of having this woman make a cotton shawl for my wife to wear. We are attending a wedding and she does not like the feel of wool. Has anyone any experience with this merchant?

Thanks!

Nice website. Never used him.
My wife is sensitive to wool as well but wanted something tartan to wear when we visited Scotland last year. We ran into a vendor call St Croix Weavers who do a lot of tartan weaving of shawls, etc., in both wool and silk and I think other non-wool materials. It took a little effort to finally get the color scheme right as the tartan was a special non-standard one, but in the end we got what we wanted, for a good price. Sorry I don't have any further contact information but I am sure you could find them online if you did some searching as I have seen them advertised elsewhere, just cannot remember where.
Good Luck.

Thanks for that link. Also very nice! Their great shawl looks very possible. I've emailed both regarding the timeframe. I'll report back on how it goes with the one I ultimately choose. Thanks!

...but, she specifically said that she is not interested in doing lengths longer than 4 yards; and consequently, I elected to pass on her service despite the apparent high quality of her work, and pleasant temper of her correspondence.
The spirit of the Declaration of Arbroath (6 April 1320) abides today, defiantly resisting any tyranny that would disarm, disperse and despoil proud people of just morals, determined to keep the means of protecting their families and way of life close at hand.
