Ha Ha....one income tax refund check equals about one installment payment on my daughters college tuition...gone are the days when that enforced savings plan yielded things like a new stereo or a vacation or even a new kilt. There used to be some very happy electronics and camera stores around here back in the day when my buddies and I got our tax refund checks...alas, no more.

The Art of Kilt Making, a new computer, a little dental work, and a few things for my workshop.

Coming up in May, I also get an anniversary check from work and I'll pony up out of that for a USAK Semi-Trad in the upcoming Scruffy Wallace tartan. I'm also thinking of a Ryan Ross bonnet, which I guess means I'm jonesing for a jones.

I was checking out Wyvern's ad as well, and I'm thinking they might get a little chunk of it, but we'll have to wait and see.

You boys must be getting more back than I will. I'm thinking I might buy a tank of gas to get to work to make more money to tax.

Yes, a new tweed jacket and waistcoat, a new Mackie Balmoral, a couple of tattersal shirts, and a new cromach. I've already pulled the trigger on everything except for the jacket and waistcoat-still deciding on several tweed options.

    Re: Tax Refund?

Just pulled the trigger on a tweed jacket/waistcoat set that will act as my birthday gift to myself when it arrives (my birthday later this month). Tax refund may go toward a Ryan Ross bonnet if I can decide on a color, but I have time for that. Most of it will probably go toward paying down a mortgage for our old new house in phoenix that we could not sell when we left three and a half years ago (we are carrying two mortgages on that house as well as one on our current house, all of which are upside down due to the drop in house values everywhere, but particularly in Phoenix----60% of original purchase price lost in current value). May also pry a couple hundred out of it to pay for having my Weathered Douglas Strome tartan section finally sewn up into a kilt, pending confirmed stabilization at my new weight.

    Re: Tax Refund?

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who anxiously awaits tax time to make an investment in something outside the budget. I'm hoping to pull the trigger on a new kilt, in one of the many Cameron tartans, for our trip to Scotland this summer. My meeting with the tax man is in two weeks. Originally, I thought about an American Heritage one, from USAKIlts, since I'm really from the US of A, but, keep feeling my grandmother's pull for the Cameron. Decisions, decisions!!

I don't usually get a refund, but this year I'm expecting one. It will go toward our new roof that just went on.
