Terrible News

My friend is getting married in September and I just got some awful news: his bride to be doesn't want me to wear a kilt. Of course, she gave the only excuse I have to agree with, that I couldn't outshine the bride.

Of course, the only time she has seen me kilted was when I was on my way to the beer festival and I had on my bright red MacIan tartan. She hasn't seen me dressed up neatly in the jacket and tie, but then a lot of people haven't seen me that way outside the office.

I asked her what if I wanted to make time with her single friends. She then promptly told me she doesn't have any single friends.:confused:

I guess I've still got a few months to see if she'll change her mind. Anyway, it's not really a big deal for me, as I don't wear the kilt all the time. It's just a bit frustrating that she specifically mentioned it.

I don't know, if you look at the picture I posted in the pics section of my daughter's wedding, I think even with all the kilts it was impossible to outshine my baby girl.

Don't you think maybe you're a bit biased?

I happen to agree, but you know how insecure some women can be.

But I'm probably like a lot of guys and weddings - "Let's get this thing over and get started on the reception."

Kilts are what I wear. My friends understand that. So far I havent attended the wedding of anyone who isnt a friend.

Still, pick your hill to die on, this one probably isnt worth it.

The bride has made a request of you. The day is hers, honor the request.
A friendship is more important than a kilt. Though it is a shame because you are quite dapper in your full formal rig. I'm sure you pull off a suit or tux with equal flair.

I agree with Rab. Wear what you would wear with your kilt with black pants to the wedding and put on your kilt for the reception.

Davedove, I fear Robin is right. However, go on trying to persuade her, and don't feel too upset if she does'nt change her mind. I think wearing the kilt only after the ceremony could be a good idea and she will probably consent.
