Was just roaming through Ham's album and noticed all his 21st Century kilts, went to their website, had some questions, emailed yesterday, no response yet. Guessing they're as busy as the rest of the kiltmakers seem to be.

Wanted to find out what pattern their camo kilt was - hoping for the British camo pattern to feed my camo addiction - but pics too small to tell.

They may not consider the USA a market...we'll see.

Twenty-first Century Kilts are a HUGE reason that I went to school for kiltmaking. One of my instructors worked there before moving to the USA, and is a master kilt maker.

Their ability to take a "modern" fabric and make an authentic, traditional kilt is a thing of beauty. I've taken the "tricks" that I learned and incorporated it into a casual kilt that has the sway and comfort of a traditional. There's NOTHING like a camoflauge kilt that appears to be a handsewn!

Look at Hamish's picture of the solid black TFCK, and you'll see what I mean. Although my new design has no buckles like the traditionals, they still have the pleats and "swish". In my mind, TFCK is one of the absolute BEST kiltmakers in the world... both in innovation AND quality!

Jimmy, you are right, at least about the black kilts. I saw a guy wearing one at the Potomac Games last month. It looked so good that I did somethging I usually wouldn't do. I stopped him and told him how good it looked, then asked him who the manufacturer was. To describe it, imagine one of the best made and looking tartaned kilts, then dye it totally black. That got my interest going in a solid kilt. For the first time, I really want one.

Ron, I am sorry I have only just picked up this thread, and your post.

We all know how E-mails can take some time to be dealt with - I am the world's worst offender! Are you aware that there is a toll-free 'phone number available for you lucky fellows in North America to use when wanting info from "TFCK/Geoffrey (Tailor)"? Of course, your call is to Edinburgh, so you must allow for the time difference (5 hours ahead if you're on the East Coast, 8 hours on the West Coast). The number is: 1-800-566-1467

Hopefully, by now you have received a reply to your E-mail.

I notice the website, which is soon to be entirely revamped, states that the camo used is generally the 'Urban' one. However, the newer hard copy catalogue states:

"With a stock range of jungle, desert, maritime and urban we often have alternative colouring and patterns. These are often slightly more expensive and have a limited availability. We are happy to send samples."

If you are calling them, ask for a copy of that new "TFCK" catalogue to be mailed to you. It is a stunning 34 pages devoted entirely to "21st Century Kilts". There is also a new "Geoffrey (Tailor)" catalogue. Ask for both!!!

As for them not considering the USA a market........! Huh! They are one of the very few Scottish kiltmakers who provide that toll-free facility expressly for North American use (we Brits have to pay for our calls to them!). Also, they set up their sign at many US Festivals, and take space in city hotels where they set up 3 or 4 day showrooms. They'll tell you where and when, when you make that call!

Thanks Ham, still no word. Think I did order the catalog, do expect that to take time to get here.

I'm still baffled by all the companies in all different industries that get modern with an Internet website and encourage email from prospective customers then never assign someone to monitor email.

Know the intent is there, and know they are busy and that is good. Fortunately, this kilt addiction is teaching me how to endure a jones ;-)

Wow!! Dropping Ham's name must have worked. Just got a long letter from Howie at TFCK today...WITH three camo fabric swatches...WITH four pages of pricing information....and WITH the TFCK catalog.

Sure do like these folks attitude and approach. And, the DO market to the US...Even have Hugh, Howie's colleague, coming over to California and Colorado in a few months.

Boy...gonna be taking some time to look at all the goodies in this catalog.

All I did was fill out a catalog request on their website...

Ya gotta look at this stuff brothers....wish list time!!
