    Thanks XMARKS

    just some thoughts

my sister's wedding is on saturday, the whole reason i started wearing kilts in the first place, and i want to thank everyone here. i've been off the forum for while, mostly because i've just been enjoying wearing my kilt when i've had the chance. in the last month or so since i've gotten my 2nd kilt (SWK standard black stewart) i've gone kilted to a wedding, on a plane, to the theatre and of course to bars. i'm getting on a bus this morning to head home to baltimore to begin the festivities. my family and my girlfriend love it, for which i am very lucky, and the only negative thing i've heard has been another kiltie (unkilted at the time) letting me know my sporran was too low (more the tone than the comment).

i just wanted to thank you guys here for helping me get into this. not only with your advice, but all the stories and the entertainment. since i've found this place, i've had no problem after a bad day or a long week at work throwing on my kilt, heading out, and feeling a while lot better about myself. i've met some really nice strangers too. i'm not sure if its the pull of the kilt that makes people nice, or it's just that type of person who will actually approach a stranger in a kilt. either way, the good has been enough to let me ignore the bad.

i'm looking forward to participating in my first burns dinner here in nyc, if my schedule allows. next year my girlfriend and i will be living in paris (finger's crossed) where i plan on kilting as much as possible. thanks again to everyone!

    happy kilting.

I can only think to quote one of our more prominent and longstanding members of the forum, the famous Riverkilt, at a time like this: "FREEDOM" (I guess that is also a Mel Gibson Braveheart quote too)

Freedom of comfort, freedom from your cares and woes, freedom to wear what you want and what makes you happy, and not least of all, the symbol of freedom in the old country. Glad you are enjoying your own particular variety of kilted freedom.

    Hi Andy,

Always great to hear a success story. As for the non-kiltwearing kiltie, and the sporran comments, well you know what they say. All men are created equal - maybe he wasn't created quite as equally as you are.

Keep us posted as to Paris and of course - picture, pictures, pictures.

    Regards

    Chas

Xmarks provides a remarkable education on kilting including great comebacks for the occasional snide remark one receives.
