    Ticked off

I am a Master Mason that has been invited to a raising at a nearby lodge. I have been invited by a brother whose friend is being raised. The brother in question has told me that permission was asked for and given to wear my kilt to the raising. With a condition. That I wear something under the kilt. Who has the right to make such a demand. And which lodge member will be assigned to check. I do not know whether to be upset or just let it go. The two brothers are officers in the local police force. The brother that invited me is a member of my lodge and has sseen me kilted several times in different settings. So, XMTS brethren, what do you think I should do. Go, not go. Kilted, not kilted. I would be wearing my MacRae 13 oz wool with Argyll and vest. And , btw, both came from Rocky at USAKilts. (Shameless advertising).

What to do. I am inclined to go and tell the Master of the Lodge what he can do with his Kilt check. But bravado is strong at my keyboard. Thanks.

Life is too short to make a big deal about such a thing.

Wear your kilt. Wear something under it. Be content and help a brother raise a friend.

Go kilted and covered. The Lodge that you are visiting may involve open stairways that bode poorly for kilt privacy. Many people who are not kilt wearers know only of kilted people the myth of THE Question. It does not pay to advertise to those that may be visually inquiring.
I am a religious educator of wee uns. (kindergarten and first grade) It would not be proper to teach kilted and risk being uncovered.

How are they going to know if you are wearing something under the kilt? Are they planning an inspection?

I personally would wear something since they request it, but again, how are they going to know?

Do as they ask. You are the visitor and there to help a brother.

Wear the kilt and the undergarments. Don't get pissed.

Easy! Wear an “unpleated underkilt” (slip).

Seriously, I’d comply. Perhaps it is an excess of caution since I assume no Highland athletics or a musician or other on a raised stage etc.
But might minor children be present?

As you are a Mason, then you know that, with few exceptions, you have to comply with the requests made by the worshipful master of the lodge. So, it would seem to me that you either accept with good graces, or consider if you should remain in the craft since you are unwilling to accept the judgment of the WM in his lodge.

Seconded. Better safe than sorry. I know that at the lodge here, the corronations are done on a set of steps, so it may be a wise precaution anyway.

As my reaction would be exactly the same as yours, I would go kilted and covered and help a brother raise a friend.
