Talking 'Tis better to ask forgiveness...

"'Tis better to ask forgiveness, than to ask permission."

That's been my modus operandi this week at work & so far it's working. Let me explain...

With back-to-back heat advisories here in Phoenix because the high temperature's been over 110ºF most of the week (43.3ºC for our metric members), some of my coworkers were wishing they could wear shorts to the office. I said I wish I could wear a kilt & the consensus of my teammates was that I should just go ahead & wear them. The general sentiment was - our management works at a different campus, we work in a cube farm & with me wearing kilts every Friday & Celtic holiday for the last 3 years, people are use to seeing me in a kilt. Didn't have to twist my arm!

So, I've been working comfortably in a kilt each day this week & it's been completely uneventful. A few more weeks like this, & I'll be donating a bunch of pants to the Salvation Army!

That all sounds really good to me. Over 110 degrees in the shade? WOW! I feel your pain.

I try to walk late at night but it is still over 100 degrees. I can't walk too late at night because that crazy guy comes out at 10:00 and starts shooting people.

Anyway, please keep us up to date on your progress. You are the pioneer!

This is just what I did, minus the heat "excuse". After a couple months of Friday wearing, I just started wearing them just about every day, and while I still get occasional questions from individuals as to "Why?", it's pretty much a non-issue with the management.

Permission seeking, politicing, hoping, praying ... none of these things even if practiced by many on this forum will ever accomplish what I man can do for himself with nothing but personal courage. Courage seeks neither permission nor forgiveness ... courage simply does what's good and right when others for a thousand reasons simply won't.

When enough courageous men, one at a time, wear their kilts to work with neither permission nor apology the day will finally come when their courage will pay for the freedom of all others to do the same. Those men, though, who later will pay no price, take no loss, suffer no disdain for embracing all that kilting is will not know the thrill, the joy and the pride of those of us wearing them right now.

Good job, Retro Red, and ....

    Kilt On!!!

Although I no longer work, I'm always happy to read these posts from members who are now wearing kilts as daily attire at their jobs. Congratulations, and I hope you get a break in those super high temperatures soon.
