Trains and Kilts - Sandy Eggo
Since I've been invited down to Balboa Park to run a session on the LaMesa Model RR layout, I had the predictable thought of running kilted. Why not? I've not done that yet so I'm thinking May 10th I'll bust out my XMTS and play engineer for a while, I can't wait to see what kind of comments I'll get over on a the train discussion boards (knowing full well there are some not mature enough to accept or understand the power of the kilt - ad that's fine. I've learned much from the wise folks here and look forward to whatever they throw my way)
This ought ta be fun.
Now where's my rulebook ?

The kilt is fine, it's grown men playing with toys that has me worried. I just thought I'd start the ribbing from this end too.
Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come. --William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

You should run your trains at Model Rail Scotland in Glasgow. You will always find a few of the exhibitors there wearing kilts.

I've heard that Balboa Park is a big deal. Wear the kilt. Have some fun. Just don't do your Gomez adams routine.
Still, out, standing in my field.
Never do anything that you would not want to explain to the paramedics.

Addams Family (tartan?)
No Gomezing for me, last time I did that I was fired for a year (tug 'o war across the highest trestle on the layout, and running 276 cars of coal from end-to-end .... until it derailed (live loads, coal all over floor, dustbuster crew unhappy). For the record that was in all serious (the "war" not so much), we had my three units on the point, four cut in mid-train, and a two-unit swing helper. The derailment happened in the second half at oh so close to the end of the run (missed it by THAT much ...).
Black on black, pleated to the sett ...
