Tunes of Glory Kilts _ Gerald Harper

    Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the forum, but have often read and referred to many of the comments posted here for a year or so now.
One of the threads that I've followed closely was about the kilts used in the movie "Tunes of Glory".
Great movie and great kilts! Anyway, I recently managed to acquire two of the original kilts. One is marked on the inside label with the name "Gerald Harper", who did of course act in the movie.
Here are some images that might help finalize the debate.
    Cheers,
    Trevor

Wow, Trevor! How did you manage THAT?! I assume no more are available?

    Oh, and welcome aboard...!

I've seen the movie, and I agree--great movie. Does anyone know if the tartan is available? I'm sure it would be popular, if it were.

Thanks. Yes, I was surprised. They both came up for sale at one of the smaller auction houses in the UK. They had actually been listed previously and never sold, with no bids on them. I contacted the house and asked with they could get them to offer again which they did and grabbed them.
These were the only two. Was excited about the Gerald Harper tag. If either had been marked John Mills or Alec Guinness though I would have been even more pleased!
I can post more images if people wish to to see further more specifics of the tartan or tailoring.
    Cheers,
    Trevor

    Cool!

Imagine a piper wearing one of those in a competition... I wonder how many people would recognize it.

It looks like it would take a skinny 'piper to wear that kilt.

I'm with Woodsheal. How did you come to acquire these kilts?

The tartan, Hunting Scott in the ancient color scheme, is readily available from all the major mills...
