    Two kilties, one day

Yesterday, I was wearing the SWK heavyweight Lamont. I went to my Irish lesson, and on my way out of the parking lot, a taxi driver rolls down his window and shouts "Nice kilt!" I go and talk to him and he said he's going to the Chicago Highland Games this weekend, and will be wearing his Gordon kilt. I already like this guy. Then, later at work (my summer job is in electronics at Target) I see a guy in a Utilikilt. I come up to him and say "Nice kilt!" We start talking, and he's going to the Madison Celt Festival (which, unfortunately, is the same day as the Chicago Highland Games). I referred him to X Marks, but I don't think he has shown up yet.

I guess the good weather, after a long, long steak of crappy weather, has just inspired a more appropriate clothing choice.

It is good that you are actively acknowledging other kilts when you see them, it gives the wearer a bit more confidence, if it's needed, as well as possibly beginning a new friendship - and a possible new XMarks member. Good on you!

A stream of luck you had today. To see another kiltie out there is awesome but two is rare, unless your in highland games, ren fests, etc.

hopefully that will encourage them to wear it more often and around town.

Nice! I have only run into one at a time, but some guy I ran into at the movie theater the other night (also in Chicago) said I was the second person he'd seen in a kilt that day.

    That's a great feelin', ain't it?

Glad to hear of so many kilt sightings in the Chi-town area. I'll be coming into Chicago for a week in mid-July & my native Chicagoan wife thinks I'll be the only guy walking around in a kilt.

I'm in a Young Ambassador program, and I need to brush up on my Irish (language) before I head back to Ireland this summer. I'm taking private lessons with the Irish Studies professor at the University of Wisconsin who is a good friend of mine. There's not a lot of opportunity to speak Irish here, so I've become a bit rusty...

Gents, I have just returned from the worlds largest paintball game. The story goes like this... Tuesday night I arrive in time for a party hosted by one of the units there. (This is a D Day re-enactment). I get there after a 4 hour drive and am sweating in several uncomfortable locations, so I decided to switch to my kilt. After I change and show up at the party, I look around and lo and behold... 9 guys in kilts!!!!! 7 blackwatch, 1 Macgregor, and a fantastic saffron!!!! So out of the 40 to 50 people at this party, 10 of us in kilts!!!! Even the guys from Scotland were surprised to see that many guys in kilts at one place...
