    Unbifurcated Encounter

Just got back from my local grocery store where I ran into another guy wearing an unbifurcated garment. NO it wasn't a kilt - it was a lungi (did I ever tell you I live in a very diverse neigborhood?). For those of you unfamiliar with a lungi here is a picture

The guy had picked it up when traveling in India and found it so comfortable he now wears it around the neighborhood. Needless to say, he was also intrigued by the UK Workman's kilt I am wearing.

On the way back, three young Orthodox Jews were walking towards me and were clearly intrigued. One of them greeted me asking, Are you Jewish?" I said, "No." "Well we were going to wish you a happy New Year." So I wished them "Shana Tovah" (Happy New Year in Hebrew). Their eyebrows flew up to meet their hairlines, then they grinned and said "Shana Tovah."

All in all an interesting trip to the store.

I learned it as "L'shana tovah, ticva saevu." May your name be written in the Book of Life"

I'm sure that you're right. Although I DID study some Hebrew. but I got that greeting from reading a Rosh Hashanah greeting from Barack Obama.

They certainly seemed to understand me.

Lungis are extremely comfortable-I'm wearing one right now. My business partner brought a few of them back for me from India.

    OK,
I gotta ask, what was it about your or your garb that prompted the "R U Jewish" question? I mean, are kilts catching on in the Holy Lands?
