US tartans...
There are two tartans that I know of, the US St. Andrew's tartan, and the American tartan.

www.district-tartans.com/american.htm
At one time, the US St. Andrew's tartan was known as the Bicentennial tartan, and there was a move to adopt it as the "official" tartan for the 200th anniversary of the US, but that was rejected. The "St. Andrew" in the name refers to the fact that a number of US St. Andrew's societies had adopted it as a tartan for their members to wear.
There are also a number of American state, and in some cases, city and county tartans as well. The District Tartans web site lists them:

Well, like I said I am thinking of saving up to register a tartan for the McHenrys all over the globe, we are a sept that is apperently part of three clans, I dont see why we cant have a tartan of our own.

Ive got single gild stripes instead of double, I love the Green Black white and Gold theme, I want to design one to register for the MacHenry so anyone can use it.
I didnt use blue as the us army one does

Sure... but they also know that soon you will be a rolling professional pulling in 6 figures, lady on each arm, needing many 9yd custom weave kilts... one to match each car.

This is an olllllllllllllllllllllld thread. But, for some reason it showed up in "related" threads on another I was reading tonight. Anyway, just thought I would point out that "McHenry" is simply "Henderson." Not a "sept" of, but the same thing. Both are from the Gaelic MacEanruig which simply means "son of Henry." I read the few posts with this and was surprised someone hadn't made that connection already. Heck, I even see a fellow Henderson posted on this one when it was "hot" and didn't make the connection. BLU!
