Waistcoats at Target...
Just a heads-up... my local Target has waistcoats in some very desirable styles on sale for around $20 a piece. Lots of sizes too. These have worked VERY well with my kilts thus far. Might want to check them out at your local Target if you're in the market...

for a waistcoat, is it normal/ideal to have one that has a back that is not the same as the front? I think it looks odd to have the fabric on the front one way, and the back to be black or gray and plain. or am i just not looking hard enough?

It all depends. If you're going to wear a jacket with it, then it doesn't matter. If you're not going to wear a jacket, I think it looks kind of strange, too. I'd prefer to have the waistcoat all one fabric, but the Target models are not that way. Oh, well.

If you didn't care what happened to me, and I didn't care for you. We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain. Occasionally glancing up through the rain, wondering which of the buggers to blame, and watching for pigs on the wing.

Ahhh... didn't realize that was a 'rule', per-se that the fabric must be the same all around. I'll take what I can get... and for $20 it will work just fine for me.

Yep. Bought one myself about two months ago. Works great with a white oxford and royal stewart.
