    Wasn't that a party?

My wife and I attended a local radio station's 1st Anniversary "listener party" last night. The only way to get in to the party was to win tickets from the station. It was held in a century old barn-turned-pub in Okotoks, a small town about 30 kilometers south of Calgary.

I decided to go kilted, of course. When the movie "Troy" came out last month the morning DJ's were commenting about Brad Pitt's notion that within a year men would be wearing s***ts. I called in and said I wasn't sure about the truth to that, but for them to remember that "real men wear kilts". The female DJ swooned over that for a few minutes. So, I had to wear mine.

Well...she sure loves men in kilts! She spotted me and came over to introduce herself, and asked if I'd been that caller last month. I was the hit of the party! If I was a single guy I could have had the pick of many a young lady last night. I could not believe all the attention I was getting from the ladies. My wife took it all in stride, even going as far as showing me off a few times. I even had a number of men come over to shake my hand, saying they wish they had the "stones" to wear a kilt in public. All in all it was a great time. It was sure a real boost to both our ego's.

I'm waiting till they upload all the pics from the party to their website. They took a number of shots of me and the group I was in. I'll let you know once they do.

And again, I repeat... when you wear a kilt, you get more a$$ than a public toilet.

    Al,
Now you begin to understand the Kilts Night attraction for the single guys.
Imagine you are Andrew. 6'7", good build, single, and unabashedly kilted.

    Al,

As a single guy I personally can attest to the fact that one is the life of the party while being kilted. If you want solitude, you better go in those bifurcated things, but I for sure do not like being in solitude when it comes to a party. Glad that you had a really good time and an understanding wife.

Thanks, guys! As today is Canada Day here the regular DJs at the station took the day off. I plan to phone Jody (the female DJ) tomorrow am to thank them for the great party. I'm a little curious to see what she says when I call. 8)

I never got "kilt-checked", but I did have a couple of lovely lassies ask what I was wearing under the kilt. I asked the cutest of them how warm her hands were. I've never seen a woman blush so much in my life! LOL She asked me again later on, so I told her "my socks and shoes". She put on an adorable pout and walked away, obviously disappointed.

Bear...believe me when I say that if Hamish comes to Vancouver next summer for a visit and you throw a kilt-night while he's there, I will definitely be coming out myself!! For that matter, if I can manage to find a good excuse for a road trip some day I might be out for one earlier than that.
