Weekend Plans - Kilted and Watching the Fightin' Irish

This weekend, my dad, my uncle, and I are headed to Notre Dame to watch my beloved Fightin' Irish take on Purdue. And for the first time, I'm going to the game kilted. I think my Irish American kilt is just the tartan to wear there (since I wasn't ever part of the Irish Guard, and the ND Pipe Band didn't come into existence till the semester after I graduated, so I personally don't feel I could legitimately wear the ND tartan). Plus I have a new Freelander Sporran and a Cavscout Sporran strap to show off!

I'm really excited - haven't been to a game in a long time and I've NEVER gone kilted. Should be a fun experience... I'll make sure to get some pictures if I can!

Please do take some pics and post them here! I born and raised not far from South Bend and my whole family back in Indiana is having a block party to watch this game. I almost wish I was back there just to watch the fun. My step dad has his whole garage (and golf cart) decked out in Green and Gold while his best friend across the street has done the same with Gold and Black. This should be a fun one!

I just went to the UCF (University of Central Florida) Football game Tuesday night kilted up. I had on my UK with a university T-shirt...other than a few comments about a skirt....everyone thought it was great!

Drank a few beers....had a hot dog or two..and generally good time. I need to get a Black UK or something else to wear to all the home games.

I dont think in this day and age people are any longer surprised to see non-standard attire at sporting events.

Enjoy their game, and, "Go Irish"/ I've been a big ND fan since I was a kid. Only time I'd ever root against the Irish would be if they were playing VA Tech, and I'd hate to see either team lose.

I have a scouting event (I'm a leader) so I won't even be able to watch the game on TV. I was certainly too short to be Irish Guard (I'm almost 5'8") and the pipe wasn't even on the horizon when I graduated.

Have a great time. I need to get down for another game.

By the Way - wasn't that a great game last week?

    Go Boilermakers!

Now would a Trojan say a thing like that and mean it?

Sweet Mother of Pancakes, YES! I stayed up moping and complaining and rejoicing at that one till it was over. To sit and watch the team singing the Alma Mater and the Victory March right in Spartan Stadium with the fans was truly a great moment.
