    What tartan are you in?

So I head to my local friendly mega fabric store (which out of the blue announced yesterday that they will go out of business tomorrow saturday) after work to browse their wares and found a spectacular 16 oz, solid slate gray worsted wool for 13.50 a yard....so of course I bought 4 yards, enough to make a full blown tank...and the best thing is, I didnt know they were going out of business until I got to the cashier...where she informed that because of it, everything in the store was marked 80% OFF.

Meaning...I walked out with 8 yards (at 30 inches) of 16 OZ worsted wool for an increible $16.75

And to make the adventure even better, as I was checking some interface, I hear a female voice from behind me asking 'what department are you in', so I turn around and tell her that I am not with any department as I do not work there.

She (an elderly lady) then said 'no, what TARRTAN ARRE you in', as soon as I turned to face her she checked me top to bottom and then said 'ooh, you'rre even wearring yerr sporran, pitty no one else arround herre knows what a sporran is, aye?'

So I said yes maam, tell me about it, then she told me how she was of all places from Achnacarry and visiting her daughter in Louisville, so I told her about my tartan being Black Watch and we had a nice but brief chat as her daughter came to grab her and then left the store.

Awesome day all in all, im going tomorrow to the fabric store again as they have 3 full floors of stuff and I was only in the floor level.

Too bad I'm not around there, I'd like to get some fabric (I like to sew, a LOT).

Pretty cool encounter, I bet you made her day.

It's a shame Baers is closing. I found out yesterday, but my wife only found out a few minutes ago on the news. She loved that shop! I, too, enjoyed browsing around.

    As aye,

    Tired of Fabric Stores

Great story, but egads................I hate fabric stores! My wife used to drag me through them and I hated every minute of it. Granted, I was not into kilts at the time.

    Now, tire stores................oh, baby!

    Cheers!
