That's just the way some people are. If you wear it.....They will get used to it....eventually!

If you are comfortable, then all is well!

Most people will say nothing. Those that do speak will be complementary for the most part. Be ready for the jerks.

Some people can't handle something out of their narrow view of the world.
Others are afraid of something different see it as as a threat to their opinion of correctness

But most people enjoy seeing someone in a kilt

Everywhere I go in Harrisburg, PA, I wear a kilt. My wife notices the stares, and such but I am to a point that I really don't notice it. Some of the people that gave me the hardest time the first time he saw me out, wore one for Guinness and Oysters downtown. He wore a kilt and was pretty impressed with the reaction he got. If you wear it out enough you will just be happy that you are comfortable and not worry about what others are saying, or doing. Life is to short to be uncomfortable when you don't have to be, and certainly too short to worry about what other people say.

    Have fun

    Just part of kilting.

Yesterday I'm in my bosses office and we're interupted by the big boss who makes a comment about dresses. I just told him the great line from this board, "If I wanted to dress like a woman I'd wear pants." Which flustered him and cracked my boss up...she's a lady and was wearing pants as usual.

I've been kilted at work for over two years, and full time kilted at work for over 15 months...still the comments come...

I'll take the FREEDOM and the comments over no comments and no freedom.

Most people won't say anything, even if they think it's funny. Some may smile or chuckle, but for the most part is goodnatured, and not mocking. I really don't notice most reactions, and don't care. All I have ever got were compliments.

Most people like to see a kilted chap out and about, I think--especially women

I was out in Gettysburg this past weekend in a kilt. didn't get many looks either way. A few positive comments, but that's about it.

I agree with Keith... Once you wear it on a pretty regular basis, you stop thinking about it and being "conscious of the fact" that you're in a kilt. You really DO get used to it and forget (or not notice) that people are looking at you.
