    Wife...

I just got through telling my wife that it seems most of the guys on this forum wear kilts as part of their daily life...even to work. She just turned around and said "NO".

    I said, "Why?"

She said, "My husband is NOT wearing a skirt everyday!"

...it's gonna be a loooong road...

"My husband is NOT wearing a skirt everyday!"
Tell her she is exactly right. It's a kilt, not a skirt.
.. the kilt had concealed a blaster strapped to one thigh and a knife to the other. He was aware of the present gentle customs against personal weapons, but he felt naked without them. Such customs were nonsense anyhow, foolishment from old women - there was no such thing as "dangerous weapons," only dangerous people.

In that case, there's no problem!

How upset would she be if you told her, "My wife is not wearing pants everyday!"? There comes a time when mutual respect must come into play. If it isn't harmful, then why should she worry? I can't wait to retire in 20 years or so. I plan to buy a place in eastern TN and wear a kilt everyday.

Lets be real though...women live by different relational rules though. Demands can be made of men that cannot be made in the other direction. It's part of the hypocrisy that is relationships......

I have found a way to minimize the frustration though

I, personally wouldn't ever presume to tell my wife what she can or cannot do, unless it's physically dangerous or extremely financially risky on a scale that would mess us up for years. Aside from that, what she does and what she wears is her business.

If My wife said that to me, she'd get a load of hot language right smack back in her face, and she's bloody well deserve it. She does not OWN me, she does not DEFINE me, just like I don't own or define her. If I let her get away with that I fully expect to come down a HUGE notch in her estimation and respect because I can't stand up for myself.

But you are a rational man.

Just so. There is an old expression concerning such that has to do with kitty cats and the thing you drive oxen with. We all strive to avoid it, but sometimes it is hard.

Careful there about coming to the conclusion that just because we talk a lot about it means most do. I thought there had been a poll on this subject once, but I only found this earlier discussion.

    I concur.

In the same token, she should respect you and your decision enough to realize what it means to you, and that respect should lead her to not deny you. (someone please tell me that makes sense...it sounded much better in my head than on the screen)
