    Wine Tasting Outing

Mrs. Standard and I went to a benefit wine tasting last evening at our local wine shop. I decided to go kilted, wearing a Caledonian tartan, hiking boots, and a button down short sleeve shirt.

Got lots of great comments from the women and from a few of the men as well. One lady (a friend of my parents) caught me off guard when she asked "what's up with the costume?" To which I replied this is my nice dress kilt. She proceeded to ask many questions, and I think finally understood why I was wearing it, which was simply because I like it. Got a couple of bagpipe questions, one of "the question", and several questions about the tartan and family lines. All in all for a town of 20.000 in which exactly two of us that I know of are kilted it was a great evening. One surprise during the evening was when my old grade school teacher commented on the kilt and said that she really liked it. That made my day since she is still someone that I resepect in the community.

There were about 40 different wines to taste, and we found a couple of new ones that we had not previously tried that we really enjoyed. After the event was over the "regular crowd" moved back next door to the Wine Sellers and had an after-tasting tasting with some very good scotch (rye actually). It was a very fun evening.

Only a true Scotsman could recall that many details after trying 40 wines and sipping scotch.

Thanks George. There was an amature photographer there who is one of the Wine Seller regulars so I hope to get a copy of one of his pictures of the evening to post here.

Oh to live somewhere where "winetasting" involves something besides Boones Farm and MD 20/20
Experience is something you don't get untill just after you need it.

Really like the selection from Chile. I tend towards a dryer red, and a lot of the wines from Chile fit into that catagory. Tasted a very nice cab-sav from Kenwood that we ordered a couple of bottles of. I'd have to pull out the brochure for the evening to remember what all was there.

Living in Utah it is very seldom that there are wine tasting Parties unless they are Private.
