A Wonderful Valentine's Day Gift!
I just had to mention this... yesterday, my husband gave me my gifts for Valentine's Day: some beautiful red roses, chocolates, and a card. Under the box of chocolates, I saw a folded up piece of paper. I asked him what it was, and he said the actual gift hadn't arrived yet. He'd recently ordered it, so he wanted to show me what was coming.
He ordered the Art of Kiltmaking for me!!! I've been wanting that book since around the time I first joined XMTS. So excited! I have no idea when I'll be able to make anything. I have a lot of other complicated things to make with a deadline looming (and have no idea if I will get to start on those ASAP like I need to, even... augh!), but I'm looking forward to it!
What a lovely gift!

That was a lovely and thoughtful gift (well, unless you are only going to make kilts for HIM !). Having the book is akin to the jonesing that others experience after ordering a kilt -- I find myself "sewing in my mind" at odd times, looking forward to the actual project(s) that are lined up. And simply reading it is a great learning experience -- enjoy!

Hahah! I can't remember if there is a section for kilted skirts or not, but that's fine if there isn't I think I'll enjoy making kilts for him. I'm sure there will be tons of great information in it that I can use for other projects. I'm the same way... daydream about projects, how do I want to do them, etc and then reading the instructions/patterns and going over in my mind the steps and any changes I make. It's addicting! I haven't sewn in a long time since I finished a bustle gown a few years ago... wanting to get back into sewing soon. I've missed it so much!

With a gift like that one can only imagine what you gave him for Valentine's Day.
Also looking forward to some future project pics.

Pffft. You need to practice making his kilts by making one for yourself. It's a sweet gift though. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

For this Valentine's Day, besides the chocolates and flowers and a DVD and a game for her DS, I got her "The Book of Soup". I didn't think it was very romantic and said so. But all I heard was "500 pages of sloshy loveliness!" I walked round like a hero all day.
